Considered one of the quartets with the greatest projection at European level, the Gerhard Quartet is distinguished by its remarkable sensitivity to sound and by a deep respect for music as one of the greatest human values. As a quartet their main influences have been in Basel (Rainer Schmidt) and Berlin (Eberhard Feltz). In 2018 they graduated with a Master’s degree from the prestigious Hochscule für Musik und Theater Hannover with honors. Winners of several national and international awards, the Gerhard Quartet has participated in important international stages such as Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Concertgebouw Amsterdam and Muziekgebouw (within the String Quartet Biennale Amsterdam 2020), chamber music season StadtCasino in Basel (Switzerland), the Bordeaux string quartet festival and the Radio France Montpellier Festival (France), Musikamera season at La Fenice in Venice (Italy) among others. They have also been invited to prestigious summer festivals such as the Schubertiada in Vilabertran, Festival Pau Casals in El Vendrell, Porta Ferrada, Aix-en-Provence and Verbier. From the 18/19 season they are artists-in-residence at the Palau de la Música in Barcelona and the Josep Carreras Auditorium in Vilaseca and since 2021 they have been in residence at the Torroella International Festival and at the San Sebastian Musical Fortnight with the complete Shostakovich quartets. His commitment to new music is remarkable, performing at relevant events such as the CNDM cycle in Madrid (Spain), Nuit de la Création in Aix-enProvence (France) and at the Arnold Schoenberg Center in Vienna (Austria). Her performances have been broadcast by Catalunya Música, RNE (Radio Nacional de España), NDR and SWR (Germany), BBC (UK) and France Musique (France). At the record level, it is worth highlighting his album Portrait (Seed Music 2016) – critics’ award for the best CD 2016, a release with works by Kurtag, Berg and Schumann under the Harmonia Mundi International label and a last album with the French label Klarthe (“Ad Astra”) with works by Debussy and Humet, also awarded “Best Classical Album 2023” for the Grup Enderrock.
