Salvador Vázquez, recognized as one of the most vibrant and influential conductors of the charismatic of the new generation in Spain, stands out for its passionate commitment which leads him to combine opera and symphonic music, which has garnered multiple accolades from the criticism. In the words of Verónica G. Prior of Ritmo Magazine, “Salvador’s baton Vázquez, full of agility, brilliance and romanticism, knew how to captain with great complicity to an OFM full of expressiveness, color, timbre and perfect sound impasto”. His artistic ability has been consolidated in outstanding achievements, such as the ‘City of Málaga’ for the best musical work in 2015 and the First Prize in the International Competition of Conducting the Orchestra of Cordoba in 2016. He was a finalist in the 56th Edition of the Contest Besançon, being chosen from among 270 candidates from all over the world.
Vázquez has conducted with various orchestras in several countries and continents, from the Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra to the Porto Alegre Symphony Orchestra in Brazil. As chief conductor of the Malaga Opera Choir and current artistic director of the Youth Baroque Orchestra of Andalusia (JOBA) has left its mark on the Andalusian music scene. Collaborating singers and soloists of the stature of Anna Fedorova, Nancy Fabiola Herrera, Raquel Lojendio, Daniele Ciobanu, Ainhoa Arteta, among many others, Vázquez has demonstrated its versatility and interpretative quality in different fields.
Recent engagements include his debut at the Teatro de la Zarzuela with the world premiere of “Favorable Treatment”, directing the ORCAM. In addition, he was in charge of the Oscyl and the Orquesta de Córdoba, performing the complete piano concertos by Rachmaninov, Performing a commemorative marathon for the composer’s 150th anniversary. This success has been adds to its international commitments in Brazil, Moldova, the Netherlands and Romania, consolidating its international presence.
