Japanese pianist Shion Ota is the winner of the Felix-Mendelssohn-Bartholdy Competition 2026 and was selected as a semifinalist in the prestigious Queen Elisabeth Competition 2025. She won First Prize at the André Dumortier International Piano Competition (Belgium, 2025) and the International Piano Competition of Saint-Paul-Trois-Château (France, 2024), and received Third Prize at the Sendai International Music Competition (Japan, 2022), marking outstanding success in numerous international competitions.
As a soloist, she has performed at the Konzerthaus Berlin, the Rudolfinum in Prague, and the Haus des Rundfunks in Berlin, appearing with the Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, Royal Chamber Orchestra of Wallonia, and leading Japanese orchestras.
After graduating from Tokyo College of Music as scholarship student, she completed her Master’s degree in Piano Solo Performance with highest distinction at the Berlin University of the Arts, where she is currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Piano Chamber Music under Prof. Björn Lehmann and Norie Takahashi.
